Hello 3rd grade families!
Week of August 19-23
We are so pleased to start our second week here at Christie! Scroll to the bottom of this post for a flyer about how to access parent portal and keep track of student grades and information.
Don't
forget! 3rd Grade Curriculum Night is this Thursday August 22nd at 6pm. We hope to
see you there!
Math
I can compose and decompose numbers up to
100,000. Students will practice representing numbers in standard form, word
form, expanded form, and we will be introducing expanded notation.
HW: pink
sheet of review (circle problems you are unsure of).
Reading/Language
Arts
I can monitor and adjust my comprehension. Students
will practice using their inner voice to track their thinking as they read and
make sure they are comprehending the text. Practice at home by sharing aloud
thoughts, connections, and questions as you read together as a family.
I can use prewriting strategies to generate ideas and plan a
first draft.
I can identify whether a verb is written in past, present,
or future tense.
HW: Read
every night. Write down your book in your agenda and have a parent sign
it.
Social
Studies
I can explain my rights and responsibilities as a citizen.
Science
I can give examples of healthy habits and explain
their importance. We will be identifying and researching healthy habits in
order to gather information for a paper slide group project we will be working
on this week and next week.
